The partners at HunterMaclean, a leading business law firm in Savannah and St. Simons Island, Georgia, have elected Shawn Kachmar to serve as managing partner. He succeeds Brad Harmon, who has served on the firm’s management committee since 2012 and as its managing partner since 2016.

As managing partner, Kachmar will lead the HunterMaclean management committee, which guides firm strategy, sets long-term vision, and directs firm operations. Sarah Lamar and Tom Cullen form the balance of the management team. Kachmar has served on the management committee for multiple terms, ensuring a smooth transition of firm management.

Kachmar joined HunterMaclean in 2000 and has built a strong practice in employment law and business litigation. In addition to his service on the management committee, Kachmar has held other leadership positions within the firm, including practice group leader and hiring partner. He has repeatedly been recognized by Georgia Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite, The Best Lawyers in America, and Georgia Super Lawyers. Kachmar was named Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year: Employment Law” in 2023 and has also been highlighted for his work by Chambers USA, the world’s leading legal data and analytics provider. HunterMaclean is the only law firm in Savannah with practice areas and attorneys ranked by Chambers USA.

“Shawn is an outstanding attorney and a strong leader with a vision of how the firm can continue to develop and grow,” said Brad Harmon, outgoing managing partner. “He is dedicated to success for his clients, his partners, and the firm as a whole. Shawn is a gifted collaborator and consensus builder. His innovation and experience will be of great value to HunterMaclean and I am excited to see him step into the managing partner role.”

Kachmar is heavily engaged in the community. He is an elected member of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School Board and serves on the boards of several organizations, many devoted to education. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Georgia class of 2013 and the Leadership Savannah class of 2006 and enjoys refereeing soccer matches.

Kachmar received his B.S. in Public Policy, with high distinction, from Pennsylvania State University and his J.D., with distinction, from Emory University School of Law.

Brad Harmon will continue to practice in both the Savannah and St. Simon Island offices of HunterMaclean in the areas of litigation, transportation, and logistics.
